How are we so much cheaper?

While our cover is generally more comprehensive than that of a car hire company, our cover requires you to pay the excess if you damage your rental car and reclaim it from us. Car hire company cover, while significantly more expensive, offers more convenience as if you damage your rental car there is no excess to pay.

For example, if your excess with the car rental company was €750 and you damaged your rental vehicle, you would pay the rental company €750 and they would pay the remaining cost of the claim. You would then claim back the €750 you paid, from CoverForYou. If you had alternatively taken the car rental company cover your excess would have been reduced to €0 saving you the hassle of paying and reclaiming.

I used Compare the Market to compare travel insurance policies and chose this company because it offered the best cover and terms for our needs. We opted for the more extensive cover, which was also very reasonably priced. I took the time to read all the terms and conditions, and I found them clear and easy to understand, with a good explanation of what is and isn’t covered. The only downside for me was that I didn’t receive an email with the policy documents attached. Instead, I had to log in to the online portal to access and print them. We haven’t travelled yet or needed to make a claim (and hopefully we won’t have to!), so I can’t comment on how the company handles claims. However, so far, the whole process of getting a quote and purchasing the policy has been straightforward and hassle-free.
